Railway Network in Makkah
Makkah Municipality has recently commented that there are many advantages of having Railway Network in Makkah. It will help to increase the urban development outside the major city. An estimate shows that, by the year 2029, more than 10.8 Umrah pilgrims can be accommodated with the help of this.
The city’s mayor, Osama Al-Bar, said that more than 2.8 million Haj Pilgrims and 05 million Umrah pilgrims visit the city every year. By the year 2029, these figures are expected to increase to 6.5 million Hajj Pilgrims and 10.8 million Umrah pilgrims. Many local people residing in Jeddah, Taif and other neighboring cities also visit the city to perform Umrah throughout the year. There is a huge crowd every Friday Prayer in the mosque. Also, there is an increased traffic in the month of Ramadan, and it increased over in the last ten days of the month.
All of the above mentioned reasons make Makkah a populous city having 1.6 million population. It will reach out to 2.2 million by 2029.
The current transportation system in Makkah has a severe problem as traffic jams, lack of parking areas, mixing of traffic with the movement of pedestrians and a lot more. To resolve these issues Makkah Railway Network will be very helpful, especially in limiting the problems of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. These arrangement and facilitation will help resolve the issues of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to a great deal. Until better transportation facilities are provided, the issues of the local community cannot be resolved. There is an urgent need of better transportation system in Makkah.
